I am a 7.5 in sandals and heels and an 8 in sneakers and boots. I ordered a 7.5 since that's what I would typically wear in this style of shoe, and it fit perfectly. I'm not sure about the recommendations of sizing up or down, but this shoe seems true to size to me. I purchased the red, however, I may exchange for the black as the leather is extremely soft and I tend to be harder on my shoes. The red, however, is a beautiful red, accurate to the photo.
