As the other two reviews referenced, it does run large and I had the same situation when the leather cord that laces up the back, which tore- the rope is very long so it didn't affect t the ability to tie it. I do not think the quality is worth the price but I do love the style so I am exchanging it for a smaller size and also purchasing real leather cord to replace what it comes with to provide sturdier securing
